Amber Williams-King biography

amber williams-king is a conceptual Antiguan artist and writer currently based in Tkaronto/Toronto. Her work investigates personal and public photographic archives to explore history, memory, and myth to uncover new possibilities. She uses a variety of mediums to challenge the notions of a monolithic (unchanging) Black experience. Amber explores sexuality, gender, race, representation, and intersections of identity, while recording her experiences as a chronically ill-Black queer femme.

She has received several grants from the Ontario Arts Council, and was selected for the JRG Award for Artist with Disabilities and the 2017 Toronto Arts Foundation Emerging award.
